ELECTRIC PROMS: AFRICA EXPRESS @ COKO, LONDON

This was the hottest ticket in town last night. Africa Express was part of the BBC’s Electric Proms, and it was a truly unique experience. There was no set list, no order, no ego, everyone was jammin’ on stage throughout the night.

Damon Albarn was the Curator/conductor/mad scientist orchestrating the the whole event on stage. What looked like chaos behind the scenes was actually the glue that made the night special.

The cream of musicians from Africa we’re performing alongside artists like:

Flea from the red Hot Chilli Peppers and Lady Lykez…

Kano and Bashy…

Throughout the night, artists such as Babyshambles, The Magic Numbers, Hard-fi, Ms Dynamite, Natty, Blak Twang, Vertex and many more hit the stage. It was a heavy show, backstage it was so rammed, they ran out of VIP passes.

Vertex is one of the gulliest, hardest working MC’s on the scene, but the night got the better of him and he ended up taking a nap on the balcony.
